Bookkeeper

About the Role We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our bookkeeping department within a busy accountancy practice for our Tralee office. The successful candidate will manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate financial records and timely submission of VAT returns. This role will involve working with modern cloud-based accounting systems, particularly Xero, along with other online accounting platforms.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients
  • Process purchase invoices, sales invoices, receipts, and bank transactions
  • Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Prepare and file VAT returns in line with Irish Revenue requirements
  • Work with cloud accounting platforms such as Xero and other online bookkeeping systems
  • Maintain digital records and ensure compliance with relevant regulations
  • Assist with preparation of management accounts and year-end files for the accounts team
  • Communicate with clients to resolve queries and obtain financial information

 

Requirements

  • Previous bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice
  • Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns in Ireland
  • Proficiency in cloud accounting software, particularly Xero
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Strong communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple client accounts

 

Desirable

  • Xero Advisor certification
  • Experience with other cloud accounting packages (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, Dext, or similar)
  • Accounting technician qualification or relevant bookkeeping certification

Portfolio Manager – Accounting & Advisory

Location –Tralee 100% Inhouse

Reporting To – Partner / Director

 

Job Purpose

The Portfolio Manager is responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of small-to-medium enterprise (SME) clients alongside regulated entities operating under the oversight of the Central Bank. The role focuses on delivering high-quality accounting, compliance, and advisory services while maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring regulatory standards are met.

The position plays a key role in managing workflow within a busy practice environment, supervising team members, and supporting partners in developing client relationships and growing the practice.

 

Key Responsibilities

Client Portfolio Management

  • Manage a portfolio of SME clients and regulated entities.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, providing proactive financial and business advice.
  • Maintain strong client relationships and ensure high levels of service delivery.
  • Monitor client deadlines and ensure timely completion of assignments.

 

Accounting & Financial Reporting

  • Review and preparation of: Financial statements
  • Management accounts
  • Corporate and personal tax returns
  • Ensure accounts are prepared in accordance with relevant accounting standards (e.g., FRS105, FRS102/S1A and FRS102).
  • Liaise with the Audit Department

Team Management & Workflow

  • Supervise and mentor trainees and junior staff.
  • Review work prepared by team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Manage workflow within the team to ensure deadlines are met during busy periods.
  • Assist in staff development and training.

 

Practice Development

  • Identify opportunities to provide additional advisory services to clients.
  • Assist partners with client onboarding and proposal preparation.
  • Contribute to process improvements and efficiency within the practice.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • 5+ years’ experience within an accountancy practice environment
  • Experience managing SME client portfolios
  • Experience working with regulated entities or financial services clients desirable
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards and tax compliance requirements

Payroll Administrator

About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Administrator to join our growing bookkeeping department within a busy accountancy practice for our Tralee office. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processing for a portfolio of clients while ensuring compliance with Irish payroll legislation and Revenue requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly, fortnightly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients
  • Ensure accurate calculation of PAYE, PRSI, USC, pension deductions, and other statutory deductions
  • Submit payroll information through the Revenue Online Service (ROS) in line with PAYE Modernisation requirements
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with Irish employment legislation
  • Manage new employee setups, terminations, and payroll changes
  • Liaise with clients regarding payroll queries and provide professional support
  • Prepare payroll reports and reconciliation as required
  • Ensure strict confidentiality and data protection compliance

 

Requirements

  • Previous payroll experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or bureau
  • Strong knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and PAYE Modernisation
  • Experience using payroll software (e.g., Thesaurus, BrightPay, or similar)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

 

Desirable

  • IPASS Payroll Technician qualification (or working towards)
  • Experience managing payroll for multiple clients

Audit Senior

We are currently recruiting a full time Audit Senior in our Tralee office.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience in a similar role in practice.
  • 2+ years post qualification practice experience in Audit
  • In dept knowledge of Accounting and Auditing Standards
  • Strong technical ability.
  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of accounting & audit programs.
  • Strong communication skills including good team building and client relationship management.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Providing an efficient high quality audit and accounting service to a portfolio of clients which will include, Audit, large SME’s and third party reporting clients.
  • Overall compliance of Audit/Accounts function in line with audit and accounting standards.
  • Mentoring, training, developing and supervision of audit team.
  • Effective communication with partners, clients and the team.
  • Audit of SME companies including clients that are reporting to the CRA and to Central Bank.
  • Preparation of financial statements for larger audit exempt companies.
  • Knowledge of Corporation Tax would be an advantage.
  • Technical assistance to the accounting & audit team.
  • Preparation and presentation of reports to clients (and partners) on request.
  • Dealing with miscellaneous enquiries from clients, banks, Revenue etc
