Welcome to the Spring edition of our bi-monthly newsletter.

With one quarter of 2018 already over it’s time for us all to “Work Smarter, Not Harder”. I think everyone would agree to that. Many of us are working around the clock, chasing our tails, but the question is, are we being productive with our time.

In this newsletter, Nicola Slye Power, Audit Senior here at PSC, identifies the key points to help you with your time management so that you are productive while you are at work and have adequate time available to spend with your friends and family.

GDPR – it’s almost on everyone’s mind at the moment but yet many of us are still no closer to ensuring that we are compliant by 25th May 2018. We as a practice of accountants are very aware of our obligations and we feel that all of our clients should equally be aware. With this in mind, Siobhán Rivas May has written an article on this topic for our newsletter.

In addition to this, PSC are holding a free event for you, in the Ballygarry House Hotel, which will discuss GDPR and other important legislation such as payroll modernisation. Payroll Modernisation will also be looked at but that is not due to be rolled out until 1 January 2019. Please see the article for further details.

Another interesting article has been written by Bairbre O’Sullivan which deals with the Pension Dilemma. Would you believe if we said that to provide for a pension where someone is on the 20% tax band would give you the same return as the SSIA did several years ago and double if you are taxed at 40% and yet the numbers providing for a pension are small.

As always, the team here at PSC are always here to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Please remember our event on the 8th May 2018. We look forward to seeing you there. Positive thought for this Newsletter: “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door”. Milton Berle.
