Covid Recovery Supports – June 2021

The Economic Recovery Plan announced earlier this week sets out a new package of enterprise supports and extensions for the most impacted sectors, reaffirming the government’s commitment to taper supports off gradually.

 

EWSS              Extension of the Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme until 31 December 2021.

PUP                 Extension of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment until early 2022.

CRSS               COVID-19 Restrictions Support Scheme (CRSS): The COVID-19 Restrictions Support Scheme will be extended beyond 30 June until 31 December 2021.  Additional payments are available for businesses re-opening on or after 2 June 2021.

SBASC            Small Business Assistance Scheme for COVID: There will be a new round of applications for Q2 and broadened eligibility to assist a wider range of enterprises with grant aid to assist with fixed costs.

 

Business          A new scheme will start in September 2021 for businesses that are still

Resumption     struggling to resume operations in the autumn, where their turnover is 75%

Support           lower than it was in 2019.

Scheme

These businesses will receive a further grant in the autumn up to a maximum of €15,000.

 

Commercial     The Commercial Rates Waiver will be extended beyond 30 June, to

Rates Waiver 30 September, is its current form.

 

Debt                 The Tax Debt Warehousing Scheme will be extended to the end of 2021 for all

Warehousing   eligible taxpayers with an interest free period during 2022. COVID related

Scheme            liabilities will then fall to be paid from 1 January 2023. Overpayments of Employment Wage Subsidy Scheme will now also be included in the scheme.

 

SCARP            A dedicated new standalone examinership process to reduce cost and timeframe for small companies is being established – the Small Companies Administrative Rescue Process (SCARP).

 

Temporary      The temporary suspension of the right of an employee to trigger a redundancy

Redundancy    claim has been extended to 30 September 2021. When it is lifted, businesses

Claim               experiencing difficulties can be supported through the provision of an interest-

Suspension       free COVID-19 Deferred Payment arrangement.

 

Enterprise       The special Enterprise Support Grant of €1,000 for self-employed people

Support           returning to work will also be continued, to assist the self-employed, who are

Grant               leaving the PUP, to meet restart costs.
